MOTHERLESS BABIES ORPHANAGE HOME
Background:
The Handmaids of the Holy Child Jesus Congregation (HHCJC) Ancilla Motherless Orphanage Home is located in the rural town of Emekuku in Owerri, Nigeria. The Orphanage serves 35 abandoned children of various ages, including 2 young boys with cerebral palsy. The HHCJC strives to provide holistic care for the children they care for, including physical, spiritual, emotional, social and educational support. They also provide temporary accommodation for struggling mothers in the communities and provide emotional support and counseling services to the parents of the girls who accidentally become pregnant out of wedlock.
The Problem
1. Accommodation: They need more childrens rooms. Especially those in secondary school.
2. Mobility: The car they have is outdated and is constantly breaking down.
3. Children's Playground: Currently in very poor condition (see picture above).
4. Computers & Laptops for Children: In order for the children to complete homework assignments.
5. Interlocking/ Landscaping the compound: To prevent erosion from pulling at the foundation.
6. Hospital bills of children and young mothers keep increasing
8. Need strong and durable beds, mattresses, and bedding for women and children.
9. In need of financial support in order to purchase nutritious food for women and children.
